The focus is to sooth the nerves and helps reduce joint restrictions and promote increased flexibility and range of motion. It is also a great de-stressor promoting physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
Prenatal massage is increasingly gaining popularity as pregnant women begin recognizing the benefits prenatal massage has to offer women during pregnancy. Back pain is one of the more common side effects of pregnancy. Back pain can persist throughout pregnancy and even after delivery. A Registered Massage Therapist is trained to provide soft tissue and relaxation techniques that are safe for both you and your baby.
Massage can help to relieve muscular tension, prevent and/or reduce leg swelling and cramping. It may also help with the challenges of insomnia that on occasion accompany pregnancy – helping to promote relaxation and restful sleep for both you and your baby.
Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
A gentle, non-invasive manual technique proven to encourage lymph flow, reduce swelling and soften hardened edema.
It helps with:
- detoxing, supporting your health – promoting a sense of wellbeing
- reducing primary and secondary lymph edema in the legs, arms, face or thorax
- promoting the healing to skin and joints injured by trauma or burns
- reducing pain and swelling related to injury and some health conditions (sinusitis, arthritis…)
- enhancing post-surgical healing (joint replacements, jaw re-construction, cosmetic surgery…)
- providing profound relaxation as a great stand-alone treatment or in combination with other therapies
This technique was developed in France in 1932 by Emil and Estrid Vodder. MLD has grown to be the most well-known manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues. The skin is stretched and torqued in a specific manner, based on scientific, physiological principles that have proven to encourage lymph flow. If performed correctly with the correct pressure, direction and speed, it can greatly enhance recovery and facilitate drainage, as well as having a profound effect on various systems in the body.
Thermal Palm Massage
Thermal Palms® are a great alternative to Hot Stone Massage. They are soft, hand-held pads which provide long lasting heat as they cushion and protect bone during massage. Massaging directly down the spine with the heated Thermal Palms® stimulates the para-sympathetic nervous system. This is the body's rest and repair mode. When the nervous system is calmed, pain signals to the brain are reduced. The heat improves local and general circulation. Allows for deeper treatment, muscle tension release with minimal discomfort. It feels absolutely Amazing!
Cranial Sacral & Facial/Jaw Massage Therapy
